New information on the Modern Electronics Pecan Cracker.
An extension of Cracking & Shelling, the Floating & Drying equipment is typically used by Commercial Shellers that require a more thorough process of nut meat/shell separation. The machines in this section include two types of floats and various dryers for drying nut meat pieces after being floated, and dryers for drying pecan halves to maintain optimal moisture content. Also included in this section is the highly specialized Alcohol Float that removes the pecan weevil larva. If you have any questions about these or any other products, please contact us.
The Vacuum Syphon Float utilizes the Bernoulli Principle, which states that
as the speed of a moving fluid increases, the pressure within the fluid decreases.
The nut meat/shell mixture is passed into a syphon which in turn
removes air from the pecan shell. When the nut meat/shell mixture returns to the
settling tank, the waterlogged pecan shell sinks to the bottom and is augured out
while the nut meat is skimmed off of the top of the water.
The ME-VS-10 utilizes a 4 inch pipe for the vacuum, and the ME-VS-11 utilizes a 5 inch pipe for the vacuum. These two models will accommodate virtually any Commercial floating operation.
Typically used after the Vacuum Syphon Float to remove the final bits of shell left behind, the Pressure Float removes air from the remaining pecan shell by means of a pump. When the nut meat/shell mixture returns to the settling tank, the waterlogged pecan shell sinks to the bottom and is augured out while the nut meat is skimmed off of the top of the water.
Although operating an Alcohol Float requires a liquor license, the Commercial Shellers that own these machines think that it's worth it to remove the pecan weevil larva from their product.
With independantly articulating baskets, this batch dryer can dry pecan halves and pieces. Each basket will hold 210 pounds.
At 28 feet long, this belt dryer's 54 inch wide Stainless Steel mesh belt will dry pecan halves to your desired moisture content. We have customers that dry pecan pieces on this dryer, and they report that it does a very good job.
This dryer is one of the longest standing dryers in our line of products. It conveys the pecans through a series of Ajax driven trays. Each tray is modular with it's own Heater or Blower (for cooling). You can order as many heat sections and cooling sections as you think your operation needs. Typically, our customers purchase 3 to 5 heat stages, and 1 to 2 cooling stages.
