New information on the Modern Electronics Pecan Cracker.
The In-shell section includes equipment for cleaning, sizing, sanitizing, and conditioning the pecans for cracking. If you have any questions about these or any other products, please contact us.
Initially, pecans need to be divided into sizes to make the shelling process more efficient. Our sizer is a Meyer Machine Co. design (The first and still most widely used commercial sizer in the pecan industry). When we purchased Meyer's pecan processing designs, we received all of the casting molds and drawings required to build this sizer to the original specifications.
The configuration of our In-Shell sizer is highly customizable. We offer sizes from 09 to size 16 pecans with an optional trash removal stage. The length of each sizing section is strictly up to you and your shelling needs.
A "Pop" is a pecan that looks perfectly good on the outside, but is dried and shrivelled on the inside. This type of pecan can be removed by passing the pecans through a carefully designed suction stream whereby the pops are light enough to be sucked up, and the good pecans are conveyed onward to the rest of the shelling operation.
Pop Removers and In-Shell Aspirators are very customized pieces of equipment. The size of the machine and it's components depend upon many different factors such as frequency of pops in the pecan crop you are shelling, plant capacity, and the degree of degradation pops impose on your finished product.
De-Stoners allow a pecan shelling operation to wash the pecans to remove rocks and sand. Many of our customers mix chlorine with the water thus performing a cold water sanitization of the In-Shell Pecans.
Some of our customers prefer a method of sanitizing pecan by means of hot water instead of chlorinated water. The Continuous Sanitizer does just that. A stainless steel belt conveys the pecans under water at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed length of time.
Instead of conveying pecans continuously through hot water like the Continuous Sanitizer does, the Batch Sanitizer gives the operator the ability to sanitize pecans in batches.
